BASEMENT TANKING - HOLLAND PARK:
The inspection here showed split levels and high external ground levels. The vertical damp-proof course on the opposite side of the wall could have been omitted, allowing moisture from the ground to travel through the brick work and evaporate from the surface, leaving behind salts. Evidence of this was bubbling paint, crumbling plaster, mould and wet patches.
We resolved this problem by removing all the plaster back to the brick, and as always, we removed all rubble from site. A three coat, render tanking application was applied and finished with a plaster skim. The wall was dry within a few weeks and ready for painting.
